In Star Trek, they had (or will have?) these little hand-held devices called PADDs, or Personal Access Display Device.

My iPad (iPADD?) my not be made up of isolinear circuits, but it’s enough to satisfy my Star Trek geekiness. You’ll want to take a look at the full size versions of the images below to get the full effect.

I’ve taken videos from both my Kodak Zi8 and my Nikon D5000, but I wanted to see how they compared side by side… literally. For this example, I held (sorry about the shaking) both cameras next to each other and recorded Steve Mortiboy driving a Dodge Charger around a circle a few times.

Skype has finally come to the iPhone.   Users are able to make free calls using Wi-Fi to other Skype users as well as use their Skype accounts to make free or cheap VOIP calls to any landline or cell phone.  The Skype iPhone app is available for both the iPhone as well as the iPod Touch.  Best of all, it’s completely free.

Ever since I made “the switch” last year, I’ve become more and more enamored with Apple products. As a former lifelong Apple-hater, I now see the error in my ways, and am really enjoying my new toys. Since my Acer laptop apparently decided on it’s own that I don’t actually need use of it’s screen, rendering it useless as a laptop, I of course had to buy the new Macbook.

I haven’t decided exactly what to do yet with the Acer, which isn’t even that old.  I thought about turning it into my new VPN server, but the single non-Gigabit NIC is annoying.  Also, CentOS seems to not agree too well with the machine.  Maybe it will become a media machine for a TV?  We’ll see what transpires…

Well you knew I would get one eventually.  I even thought about waiting in line.  When I went to the Apple Store with a friend when the iPhones first came out, I promptly walked away.  Checking two other iStores in the area returned the same results.  Now that traffic at the stores has died down, I’ve finally decided to junk my PPC 6800 in exchange for an Apple iPhone.  Check out what semperfiwebdesign.com looks like on it:

Awesome Machine

Ok so I’ve finally done it.  A few months ago a friend lent me his old G5 Macintosh to play with.  I told him it would be a fun “toy,” but that obviously I would still use my Windows machine.  At some point I realized that it could be handy at times (who doesn’t want a built in Linux terminal in their operating system).  So I started using both simultaneously, side by side.  Every so often, Vista would of course freeze or slow or just restart for no apparent reason, causing me to have to use the Mac more and more by default.  Eventually I realized that I was hardly using the Windows machine at all.

When the time came for me to build a new computer, I decided to make the leap.  I took out a loan and signed away my first born and bought a Mac Pro.
