In Star Trek, they had (or will have?) these little hand-held devices called PADDs, or Personal Access Display Device.
My iPad (iPADD?) my not be made up of isolinear circuits, but it’s enough to satisfy my Star Trek geekiness. You’ll want to take a look at the full size versions of the images below to get the full effect.
Cool, next time I watch a rerun of TNG I’ll think of this post 🙂
Ha. Geordi didn’t have Twitter on his PADD. 🙂
Star Trek PADDs apparently only use isolinear chips for data storage – they otherwise use what looks like a regular 20th or 21st century circuit board. http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/File:Insidepadd.jpg
Simply the coolest app ever. If you needed a reason to buy an iPad, here it is.
As much as I think Apple is the new Microsoft… evil proprietary, don’t deserve to say that they use Unix mofo’s… I’m getting one!!
This is awesome! I’m sure after I show this to my husband he’ll let me get the iPad I’ve been drooling over! Very fun. Definitely forwarding this to all my Star Trek loving friends.
What an awesome theme! While I have not gone the way of the pad yet, I still love the thought that it could be looking like the “Future” today.
Thanks for letting me know about it!
So not sure if i missed something but is this an actual app or just mock ups of what you would like to see??
Hi Joseph,
This is an app called LCARS. There’s actually one called Captain’s Blog which I’d been waiting to be released for ages and is out now. I highly recommend them both. 🙂
