President Barack Hussein Obama came in number one, followed by Jesus Christ at number two, on the Top 10 Most Admired List. Not that anybody asked me (2634 American adults were polled). Seriously, I want to see a “Who is the Messiah” poll. Jesus would obviously win, followed by “I don’t believe in that,” but I’m curious what percentage would say President Obama. I’m thinking 15%. What has Obama actually done to be so admired? (Other than playing the world’s biggest con game and winning.) I get that he is the first black United States president and the historical significance of that, but what has he actually done to be so admired? He did nothing of significance as a senator. There have been a lot of community organizers who have more accomplishments and impact. This is populism at its worst.
Now I have nothing against President Obama, but he’s not actually done anything concrete at this moment. There was a woman on the news this morning saying that her biggest disappointment so far has been that the republicans aren’t working together with Obama. How more delusional can someone be?
To play Devil’s Advocate, the poll was open-ended, rather than multiple choice. Jesus and President Obama were not choices. Logically, responses for Jesus would be much lower, even for devout Christians, who would otherwise see Him a deity rather than a person. In case you were wondering, here are the complete Top 10 results:
- President Obama
- Jesus Christ
- Martin Luther King, Jr
- Ronald Reagan
- George W. Bush
- Abraham Lincoln
- John McCain
- John F Kennedy
- Chesley Sullenberger
- Mother Teresa
Surprised to see Mother Teresa so low on the list but seeing Sullenburger on there makes you realize how much the news influences those polls…
Don’t get me wrong, Sullenburger is a great guy; however, I doubt in 1-2 years that he’d make any list of that nature since he’ll go back to being “just another pilot.”
Obama is not given enough credit. No President in history has been faced with so many challenges: two wars, terrible economy, high unemployment, deregulated industries, corporate/political greed, lost of prestige around the world, and personal hate. Now most of the media have been fair with him except of course Fox News. Their bias towards him mostly by those morning show kuckleheads, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and on occasions Bill O”Reilly no matter what he does they can’t find it in them to praise him. He gets $20 billion dollars to ensure people are not left out in the cold by BP and they read it as a power grab. Had George Bush done it they would hail it as him doing what’s best for the people. Then you get to their lame reason like it is unconstituional. As if Sarah Palin did a day in law school, our President taught constituional law!! I would trust him to know his responsibilities as President better than these wanna be Perry Masons. In the end, these people who hate OUR PRESIDENT will regret the day that they didn’t embrace this man of character and fortitude. He is the right man for this job and the only one who could have handled all these challenges and keep his head.
